Master Rigger

To obtain a Master Rigger License in New York City, applicants must be at least 18 years old, proficient in English, fit to perform the work, and of good moral character. They must pass a Department-sponsored examination within one year prior to application and possess valid certifications for rigging supervision and lift direction from an NCCA or ANSI accredited program. Additionally, they must complete Department-approved 32-hour courses for lift directing and rigging supervision within the year prior to application. Experience requirements include five years as a designated master rigging foreman under a licensed master rigger, experience as a licensed Professional Engineer developing critical pick plans, or five years as a licensed lift director in NYC.
